Cam Newton has returned to Auburn University - not as a football player, but as a student.
Newton has returned to his alma mater to finish his degree. Newton left the university early - after the 2010 season to enter
the NFL draft.
Newton was drafted in the first round to be QB for the Carolina Panthers.
Auburn's new head coach Gus Malzahn broke the news this morning in a tweet.
Kirk Sampson with the Auburn athletic department says Newton is pursuing a degree in sociology but was unsure how close he
was to finishing that degree.
Sampson added that Newton is not doing any interviews right now - he's just focusing on being a student.
